HDFC format details we handle
- The column titled "Closing Balance" is the running balance, not a summary.
- The STATEMENT SUMMARY block at the end (Opening Balance, Debits, Credits, Closing Bal) is read and used for the closing check.
- Hyphen-separated UPI narrations (UPI-NAME-VPA-IFSC-RRN-NOTE) are decoded for rules.
Password-protected HDFC PDFs
HDFC e-statements sent by email are usually protected. The covering email explains the password; it is commonly your Customer ID. Enter it when KhataSheet asks; it is used only in your browser. If you want an unlocked copy for your records, use the PDF password remover (for your own files).

Is my HDFC statement uploaded?
No. The PDF is read by code running in your browser and never leaves your device. That includes the password if the file is protected.
What is the password of my HDFC statement PDF?
HDFC e-statements sent by email are usually protected. The covering email explains the password; it is commonly your Customer ID. KhataSheet cannot recover or guess passwords.
Which HDFC statement layout is supported?
The net-banking PDF with columns Date, Narration, Chq./Ref.No., Value Dt, Withdrawal Amt., Deposit Amt., Closing Balance. Dates in the format dd/mm/yy, for example 05/04/24 are read. If your layout differs, try "Other bank (generic)" in the format menu.
What if a row does not match the balance?
It is flagged in red with the expected and printed balance. Compare it with the PDF and fix the cell; the check re-runs instantly. We never change amounts on our own.
Can I import my HDFC statement into Tally?
Yes. Download the Tally-compatible XML: debits become Payment vouchers and credits become Receipt vouchers against your "HDFC Bank A/c" ledger (you can rename it), with the counter ledger set by your rules or a suspense ledger.
